coin shop report 3/6/09
Prices drew back just a fraction.
This is up in Fairbanks, AK so everybody else in the country should be cheaper. I ended up buying $10 face value in junk silver(90%) @ 11 times face value. I picked walking liberty and Ben Franklin half dollars. I also picked up 8 SAE pre 09 at 18.00 per. I know that this is a mark up. Most were 2004 coins in the plastic coin holders. The 09 were 20 per. Finally, I bought 4 Peace silver dollars AU condition 1922 at 16 dollars per. There is still a heavy demand for silver with less demand for gold. I have an order of 60 oz of rounds on the way at (13 spot+2fee)per oz that will be there in two weeks. I know that I am a bit player but I will continue with my mixed strategy of 50-100oz per month with increases as the weather gets warmer and our fuel prices drop. I am tempted to buy some 2.50 cents Gold Indian head pieces that the shop wants to sell for $250 per. The shop used to have a big number of St. Gs and one ozer bullion coins. They are all gone. They are 60$ over spot on GAE 1 ozers but the owner told me he might reduce it because I buy a lot. I am not going to go buy a dozen 1oz GAE right quick but will continue to clink away at silver buying. The owner said that he was making two-three 500 oz orders per month and they were filled within the same day that he ordered. Sincerely, Thomas |
Re: coin shop report 3/6/09
I just went to the shop today and bought a 1/10 oz GAE for 115 and a 1/4 oz gold Maple for 245. Generic silver rounds were $15 and 90% coins were going for 11.3 times face.
